Lebônê plans to offer holistic solutions to the pressing problems of developing countries. We combine innovative use of cutting-edge technologies from our technology partners with the local understanding necessary for a successful on-site roll out.
For the initial pilot project in Tanzania, Lebônê will use microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology to provide direct current power for standard high efficiency LEDs and equipment like cell phone chargers. MFCs offer a exciting new option for sustainable, cheap, environmentally friendly, and locally targeted power solutions. We are in partnership with Living Power Systems to develop prototype fuel cells for use in the field.
Our solutions are robust and scalable. We plan to adopt new lighting technologies as they become available, integrating PLEDs as the products become available to provide more efficient and versatile lighting solutions. Polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs) are the next generation of LEDs - they are lightweight, flexible, have a very low operating voltage, and have a large surface area made of plastic or another malleable material.
We combine our innovative technologies with an innovative implementation strategy that will promote local entrepreneurship and youth involvement.
